School Partnerships
If you are a currently or previously certified teacher currently living in the United States, we would love to have you join our tutor community!
You can apply for tutoring opportunities to work with students through our school partnerships on our jobs board. You can find this on your dashboard when you log into your account.
The pay for school partnership tutoring opportunities varies. You’ll always be able to see the hourly rate, frequency of sessions, and schedule for meetings on our jobs board on the tutor dashboard.
Payments are made on a weekly basis via direct deposit.
Braintrust offers online and in-person tutoring for schools. In the case of virtual matches for school partnerships, we will provide you with an online classroom space to conduct sessions.
Our most active times for tutoring are weekdays after school from 4pm – 6pm across the United States. However, we also have partnerships with schools to offer tutoring before school, during the school day, or on a schedule that’s a good fit for you and the student.
All tutors must submit a weekly session report at the end of each week for each of their individual and group tutoring matches. The report summarizes skills addressed that week, each student’s areas of strength and challenge, and topics to be covered during the following week. Submission of weekly reports is required for payment.
You’ll submit one session report for all of your sessions with each individual and group tutoring match each week, which is due by Saturday night. Payment for those sessions will then be processed on Sunday, and arrive into your bank account on the following Friday. With your first payment, you’ll receive an email from Intuit (Melio) asking you to enter your banking details.
We do complete a background check on new tutors as a part of our onboarding process. We use a company called Justifacts for this service. They will ask you to enter your social security number on their secure server to complete the background check, and it will not be saved anywhere on the Braintrust platform.
We partner with public, charter, and private schools nationwide to offer high impact tutoring for K-12 students. This includes students from a wide range of communities and backgrounds, and those with unique learning needs.
We always suggest an environment conducive to learning. That means you’ll need a laptop or desktop computer with a strong internet connection for online lessons. Tutors cannot lead meetings on a cell phone.
We’d also suggest a non-distracting background and headphones with a mouthpiece as needed.
Private Tutoring
If you are a currently or previously certified teacher currently living in the United States, we would love to have you join our tutor community!
To connect with students for private tutoring, parents will contact you through our marketplace. On Braintrust, families will see your profile if you are a good fit for their child’s learning needs. They can reach out to you by sending an interview or session request through our platform. You will receive these requests via email, and you must respond to parents through Braintrust in order to confirm appointments.

You can choose to offer sessions in-person or online on the platform of your choice!
After a meeting, you should log in to Braintrust to complete your session report. We recommend submitting reports within 36 hours of a session. With our unique reporting features, this only takes minutes. As soon as you click “submit,” parents are charged for the session, and you’ll receive payment via Stripe in two business days.
You’ll create a Stripe account upon sign-up. As soon as you click “submit” on your session report after each lesson, parents will instantly be charged for the session and you’ll receive the payment into your Stripe account. The funds will then be automatically transfered from your Stripe account into your bank account in two business days.
